    Chief Executive Officer

    Mr. Clive Tan is the co-founder and Executive Director of 8I Holdings Limited (ASX:8IH) and is based in Singapore.

    Mr. Tan holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education and an Honours Degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering from the Nanyang Technological University. He also attended the University of Technology in Sydney on an academic exchange programme.

    From his humble beginnings as a secondary school teacher, Mr. Tan got acquainted with the idea of value investing through an investment workshop and upon further research into the area, began modelling his investment strategies of renowned value investors, including Warren Buffett and adapting it to the Asian context.

    Through prudent investments and careful planning, Mr. Tan accumulated enough investment returns within 5 years to start his first business with his wife, acquiring & turning around an existing loss-making childcare business, and turning it into a successful and profitable one before selling it for a good profit.

    With his background in Education, Mr. Tan is passionate about sharing his investment knowledge and the importance of financial literacy with the public. He has authored books including “Value Investing for Employees” which is one of the best-selling titles in the Value Investing series.

    Since inception of the 8I Group in 2008, Mr. Tan is responsible for the strategic planning, development and risk management of its businesses including education and investments in listed securities, property projects and private equity. He is also deeply involved in the development of corporate policies and management of the group’s Human Capital.

    He believes that a person earning even an ordinary wage level can invest wisely and become financially free.

    Chief Investment Officer and CEO

    Koon Boon (KB) is the Chief Investment Officer & CEO of the Hidden Champions Fund where he is responsible for the sustainable growth and outperformance of listed Asian equity investments. KB is an internationally featured investor rooted in the principles of value investing for over a decade as a fund manager and analyst in the Asian capital markets who started his career at a boutique hedge fund in Singapore and, later, at Korea’s largest mutual fund company.

    KB was part of the core investment decision committee which achieved 700 per cent in returns (net of fees) in its flagship Asian fund during his tenure.KB is also Managing Editor of the Moat Report Asia, a research service focused exclusively on highlighting undervalued wide-moat businesses in Asia. Subscribers to the Moat Report Asia from North America, Europe, the Oceania and Asia include professional value investors with over $20 billion in asset under management in equities, some of the world’s biggest secretive global hedge fund giants, hidden billionaires and savvy private individual investors who are lifelong learners in the art of value investing. KB was also a faculty (accounting) at SMU teaching accounting courses and had pioneered the course on Accounting Fraud in Asia, an official module in the SMU undergraduate curriculum.

    KB also served investors and the public in contributing his thought leadership on the topics of value investing, business model innovation and accounting fraud in local and international media, such as TEDxWallStreet, Investopia, BeyondProxy, Greatinvestors.tv, Jakarta Post, The Straits Times, TODAY, The Business Times, and in top banking, finance and investment conferences in Sydney, Cape Town, HK and Beijing, Italy, as well as in the Value Investing Seminar, Value Investing Summit, Emerging Value Summit, Wide Moat Investing Summit and Asian Investing Summit. KB is also honored to be able to have the opportunity to be invited by Singapore’s financial regulator Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to present to their top management team about implementing a world’s first fact-based forward-looking fraud detection framework to bring about benefits for the capital markets in Singapore and for the public and investment community.

  • Joshua ZHANG Yaolin

    Investment Manager 

    Joshua is an investment manager at Hidden Champions Capital Management. He is responsible for researching and conducting detailed analysis for Hidden Champions companies in India, ASEAN and ANZ. Prior to joining Hidden Champions Capital Management, Joshua held engineering stints at Envipure and KeppelFels, garnering extensive on-the-ground experience in project management, leading and fulfilling multi-million dollar global projects on water treatment systems and rig piping systems.
    His edge in engineering synergized with investing enables him to identify strong, well-run businesses beyond quantitative numbers, particularly when conducting due diligence trips and assessing management quality.

    Joshua graduated from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (Honours).

  • Joyce PANG Qin

    Investment Analyst

    Joyce is an investment analyst at Hidden Champions Capital Management. Her responsibilities include researching and conducting detailed analysis for Hidden Champions in Greater China and Taiwan. Prior to joining Hidden Champions Capital Management, she worked with reputable MNCs that include Daikin and Siemens as an engineer, specializing in building technologies and system automation, energy management, and applying critical thinking for solving problems and proposing best solutions for clients based on data intelligence gathered.

    Joyce graduated from the University College Dublin with a Master Degree on Science of Management (2nd Upper Honours) and a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Ocean University.

  • Richard Sim Zhipeng

    Investment Manager

    Richard Sim joined Hidden Champions Capital Management in 2013, and is based in Singapore.

    He graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor in Accountancy and was previously with Ernst and Young Singapore as a Senior Auditor. He is both a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and a Chartered Accountant (CA).

    With his passion in investing, he joined HCCM as an analyst with the aim of honing his investment skills and building up the company’s portfolio with great companies similar to those of Berkshire Hathaway. At the age of 27, Richard already handled a portfolio of around 15 companies, generating double digit returns investing in various equities throughout Asia Pacific excluding Japan.

    Furthermore, being a lifelong learner in the art of value investing, Richard constantly seeks to grow in his capacity so as to add massive value to the society through financial education. To date, he has also spoken at various finances and investments related programmes and events, including the recent Value Investing Summit 2017.

  • THO Jinliang

    Business Development Analyst

    Jinliang is the business development analyst at Hidden Champions Capital Management. He is responsible for promoting the Hidden Champions Fund both through digital and offline platforms. He is also responsible for providing copy writing duties for all Hidden Champions publications. Prior to joining Hidden Champions Capital Management, he was in Branding and Communications for 8I Holdings Limited, spearheading the social media platforms and external communications.

    Jinliang graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor in Commerce (International Business).
